September Service Month for “God’s Work. Our Hands.”
Good Afternoon Hope Members!
September is a month of Service for God’s Work. Our Hands.
John 13:12-15 After washing their feet he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Master’ and ‘Lord,’ and you do well to say it, for it is true. And since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow: do as I have done to you.
You don’t need to wash people’s feet unless you want to! There are many different ways that you can serve. Here are a few ~
- Volunteer at the CAP Agency – they need people to stock shelves in the thrift store. Contact Franc Garcia at 612-743-9171 or email him at fgarcia@capagency.org
- Get involved with Lutheran World Relief by making Baby Kits, Personal Care Kits or School Kits. From LWR about the blast in Beirut that happened in August: “Unfortunately, this disaster created a setback for our programs. The blast destroyed three of our 40-foot shipping containers, which were stored in the port and held more than 22,000 LWR Mission Quilts, 100 cartons of School Kits, 300 cartons of Personal Care Kits and 125 cartons of Baby Care Kits that were being prepared for distribution. Now an estimated 24,550 men, women and children who were already in great need will not receive these essential supplies.” Our goal here at Hope Lutheran is to make 24 School Kits (bags may be picked up at Hope after September 9 for you to fill and return), 20 Personal Care Kits, and 20 Baby Kits. If you cannot print off the instructions at home, we will have them available at Hope.
- Look around you ~ do you see someone in need or a job that needs doing? An act of service can be as simple as holding a door for someone or making someone smile! What will you do for September Service Month?
- Send me an email, a picture even, of what you are doing!
I am excited to see what we do!!
